Like millions of families world-wide, the founders of Grandpa’s Gluten-Free Gourmet were constantly running into the same problem every night–what’s for dinner?
While it seems like a simple question on the surface, for the millions of people who suffer from food allergies it is rather complex. Why? Because one person with a food allergy changes how the entire family eats. And that’s where our story begins.
Our founders Dan and Angi were always having trouble figuring out what to have for dinner. He is Celiac and she can’t have sugar. Good luck trying to plan a meal around that.
Then one night in 2011, she was making her grandfather’s old recipe for oven fried chicken. With the smell of garlic and parmesan filling the house, Dan gave in to the craving and devoured all he could. Knowing that his wife’s grandfather was from the South, Dan braced for an allergic reaction because he knew that no one in his wife’s family knew or cared about what gluten was let alone what it did to him. But they LOVED grandpa’s oven fried chicken.
To his surprise there was no reaction. “That’s impossible,” he thought to himself. “This tastes as good if not better than the fried chicken I had before being diagnosed with this stupid allergy. I wonder if it is really gluten free?”
And with that thought (and a LOT of scientific lab testing) in 2012, Grandpa’s Gluten Free Gourmet was founded on one simple idea: One Meal for Everyone.
WHAT WE DO
We make a line of gourmet, gluten-free encrustings that are both healthy and great tasting. While originally used for oven-fried chicken, our customers have used it on pork, beef, fish, and vegetables. From fish sticks to fried zucchini, mozzarella sticks, and fresh onion rings, it can enhance any meal.
What are “encrustings” you ask? They are breadings taken to the next level.
HOW WE DO IT
With a typical store bought breading (or breadcrumb) you get a genetically modified, unnatural wheat-based product that contains large amounts of sodium, sugar and preservatives. Even most “gluten-free” breadings are either loaded with fat because they are nut based or have a grainy texture because they are rice and seed based.
Our gourmet encrustings are totally different. At Grandpa’s Gourmet, our products are all-natural, healthy, and taste great.
We begin with organic NON-GMO corn as opposed to rice or potato so there is no loss of taste or more importantly texture. Then we add just a touch of all natural fruit juice give just a hint of sweetness without the artificial flavoring.
From there we fold in a custom blend of spices and seasonings (as well as cheese for our garlic parmesan and classic spicy flavors) that makes your nose happy and your mouth water.
Finally, we package it in a 100% fully recyclable pouch. This way we can deliver a top quality product and protect our planet at the same time by minimizing our waste by-products and carbon footprint.

1½ Pounds Ground Beef or Ground Turkey
1 Cup Onion, Chopped
1 Cup Mushroom, Chopped (optional)
½ Cup Grandpa’s Garlic Parmesan Encrusting
2 Garlic Cloves, Minced
3 Tablespoon Ketchup
1 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning
1 Teaspoons Salt
½ Teaspoon Pepper
